Biography

Ali Murtaza is a Fulbright alumnus, and holds an MFA in Industrial Design from Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD). He graduated from SCAD in August 2015, receiving the School of Design’s Outstanding Achievement Award in the process.

Ali has taught design at undergraduate level for three years, and has been working as a design consultant since 2007. In this time he has worked with Dolby Labs, Coke USA, Audi Middle East, Grid Impact, the Biomimicry Institute and Innovations for Poverty Alleviation Lab (IPAL), among others. He has also conducted talks, workshops and juries on design at various academic institutes around Pakistan, including BNU, NCA, NUST and IVS; and has participated in solo and group art and design shows.

Ali currently manages Makeistan – Pakistan’s first academic maker space – and teaches a D-Lab course to electrical engineering students at Information Technology University (ITU).
